Winter’s End

Arrows of geese soar across the sky overhead
breaking
winter’s
sovereign
stillness
breaking
fog’s
quiet
embrace
breaking

“Entwined” by Tyrean Martinson

Entwined

at five am awake,
we
hear
spring
birdsong.
we
curl
into
communion.
we
awake at five am

our legs entwined
with
lusty
sleep
cycles
with
rhythmic
night-time
movements
with
our legs entwined

when the alarm calls
we
squeeze
one
more
we
moment
before
releasing
we
when the alarm calls

I blush when he gives me a paper rose,
smile
with
his
knowing
smile
that
blooms
warm
smile
when I blush, he gives me a paper rose
